Ruffy's Weekly Malfunctions

We finally got our first winter snow storm, if you could call it a snow storm. About 2.5 inches of the fluffy white stuff. Just enough to look pretty and not be a pain in the ass. For the record, dear Miss. Mother Nature, if you're going to give us some snow, at least make it a sizable amount. Granted I don't like having to shovel the crap, but I love it when we're buried in a few feet. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

I've had quite the week concerning, um, how to put this delicately, my digestive system. I'm at my desk, on Monday, getting ready to leave for lunch and I sneezed. Apparently the force of thus sneeze created a chain reaction causing my colon to spasm and yes, frankly, I shit my pants. I was in shock and horror. Did that just really happen? What the hell, its not like I'm an 80 year old man! Thank god I was wearing underwear; something I tend not to do. So I bolted out of my office and drove home to change. We never used to lock the house because Cruella was home, and that's something I still trying to get used to. I get up to the back door, locked; Damn it! By this time, my stomach is cramping like a mofo. I run back to the car, grab my keys, squeezing my cheeks, I'm trying to unlock the back door. The lock is jammed. I was trying so hard I thought I would snap the key off in the lock. Now what the hell am I going to do. The puppies are jumping and barking like crazy inside the shed. I tried jiggling the door, pushing it, pounding on it, jiggling the key, nothing would work. By this time, I have beads of sweat of my forehead and if I don't get into the house there's going to be more of mess in my pants than there already is. I know this is just some silly prank being played on me; right? Now I'm thinking, which windows are locked and which ones are open. I could always try to crawl through one of those. Then it hit me, try the front door, it doesn't always lock right. I run around to the front of the house, turn the handle on the front door and presto, I'm in! Thank you Jesus. I run upstairs to the bathroom and do what I needed to do and got cleaned up. I walk to the back door and turn the lock and of course it opens without any trouble. What the fuck? Moments like that make me think the spirits in our old house are playing tricks on me.

To be honest, the rest of the week wasn't any better concerning my digestive system. I think it may have been related to all the salads and healthy foods I've been eating. Maybe too much roughage. Either that or I really am getting old. So Thursday night, the Hubster and I are sitting in the den watching TV. The puppies are all snuggled up in my lap under the blanket with me, and my stomach starts grumbling. I'm thinking, great here we go again. Of course, I'm thinking it just must be gas. Since I had gas all damn day. Sure enough, I fart. Phew just gas. A few moments later I feel pressure building again, I go to fart and opps, that's not gas. Yes, once again I crapped my pants! For the love of god! Actually it was horrible. I wound up being up until 2:00 am in the morning sitting on the damn toilet.

As of today, things are all back to normal LOL. I'm sure your thinking, damn, Ruffy, don't you have anything else to write about? Well to be honest, no not really. Unless you want me to start whining again about how broke we are and how my checking account has a zero balance. I figured you guys have endured enough of my financial woes for a while. Or I could go on about how I saved over $114 on my grocery bill using coupons. Yes, that's right, girl, you heard me. I rock my coupon binder when I shop! Now if I could win the lottery or something, that would seriously make life a lot easier and more interesting, but I can't justify spending money on a frivolous lottery ticket.

Friday afternoon....
Ring, ring, ring...I look at my cell, it says MOM. Crap, what now?
Cruella: "Sam, you need to call the nurses station, they're going to bring someone else in here to share my room with me."
Me: "Well you have a double, they never said you would be alone in there."

Just a little back story on the potty chair, I hate that thing! She had one in her bedroom in our house and used it rather than walking 10 extra feet to use the real toilet. It was an item of serious contention. Not to mention the smell! Even when she was in the hospital she made them give her a potty chair because she didn't want to walk the 5 feet to the bathroom. She's lazy!
Me: "No you don't need a potty chair!"
Cruella: "You don't understand! Just call and find out what's going on."
I hung up!

I debated on actually not posting anything, but then, since I haven't been able to post on a daily basis, you guys wouldn't have noticed I made an effort to participate. Hahahaha. Please take moment and review the following information related too two major bills going before Congress; SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act). These bills are nothing short of pure government censorship! The impact appears to be minimal on the surface the long reach will have serious impact and implications moving forward. I'm a little disappointed that Google isn't forcing every search to go directly to the information about these bills giving users a chance to review the these bills, but they do have a petition you can sign. Wikipedia is "Blacked-Out"; bravo to them. You can read more about what's going on here and here. You might want to contact your congressional leaders and tell them to fuck off!

Well, my dear friends, pigs, and future ball players, a new year is here, and I'm going to try to put that ugly 2011 in the grave. Wow that was a tough one, and I'm grateful that's it over. Of course 2012 has started out with its challenges already. Of course it wouldn't be my life if things would cooperate. I'll muster though through it and keep my head up high and my cock rock solid.

I started the year with trying to get back on the healthy lifestyle routine. The holidays reeked havoc on my diet; I put on over 10 pounds. I swear to god, I can just look at food and I put weight on through some form of sick and twisted osmosis. I wasn't able to exercise this past week because the room where my weights and elliptical hang out was cluttered with our 20 plus crates of Christmas decorations. Yes, we're that gay! Give it a rest guys, I make no excuses for loving Christmas and decorating every room in our house. On the plus side, hauling all that crap up and down two flights of stairs is a great work out. Fortunately we used yesterday to take everything down and packed it all up. I'm exhausted! It amazes me how quickly it all comes down, but it takes over 4 days to get it all up. Starting Monday, its salads and 60 minutes on the elliptical. I'll shed the weight and hopefully by summer I'll be speedo ready. A girl cane dream, can't she?

So, I like to think of myself as a fairly decent auto-friendly kind of gay. Hey, I can take an engine apart and put it back together. However, the other day, I'm driving back from visiting Cruella, and my car's engine sounded like a tank. Clank, clank, tap, tap, Grrrr! Guess I won't be ignoring my "Messages" on the dashboard anymore. I just hope I don't have an oil leak somewhere. There's no way we can afford a car repair right now.

As I mentioned previously, we were struggling to dig up $8,000 for the Hubster's tuition. Well, through clever manipulation, I was able to take a hardship withdraw against my 401K. Not really something I wanted to do, but there weren't any other options. Family, you say? Yeah, right! Oh well. So, yesterday, I check the mail, and there's another invoice from the University. Now they want another $5,000. For the love of God! Don't know where I'm going to pull that golden nugget from. Fortunately financial aid covers the bulk of his tuition, but that $5K is the remaining balance for just one semester. Education should not cost $30K a year! That's what's wrong with this country! Well, donations to Ruffy's poor house are greatly appreciated; just saying. Guess, I'll start selling off our porn collection and toys!! Hey any interest in my cum and piss soaked jocks?

Well fellas, as you know, this year has been filled with a ton of "ups" and "downs", and I'm happy to see it fade away. With all that has happened this year, I have to say I'm truly grateful for all that I have in my life and for some of the things that the year has provided. The mortgage is paid, the lights are on, and we managed to get enough money together to keep the Hubster enrolled at his University. I don't foresee 2012 being a year full of money and prosperity, but if 2011 taught me anything, it was how to make a dollar stretch. Now if I could only figure out how to get my balls to stretch that good! I haven't spent quality time with my nuts in a long while, I think I'll put that on my New Year's Resolution list. I could summarize the year with a laundry list of wallowing in self-pity and being completely depressing, but what's the point of that? Its been a rough year for a lot of people. Regardless of how fat I am or how much weight I've lost, how depressing I can be or how funny I am, or whatever is going on in my life, I always know I can reach out and one of them will be there for me; if not more. They never judge and they always put a smile on my face.
My Home; considering how many people have lost their homes or are homeless, the fact we've been able to keep our beautiful house means a lot to me. Not a day goes by where I don't take moment and enjoy what we have. We are very fortunate. OK this may be selfish, but its true. There were more than few times that I almost lost our home. Cherish what you have.
My Puppies; Mr. Jackson and Miss Roxie will love me unconditionally forever. Nothing puts a smile on my face more than coming home, walking in the door and being covered with puppy kisses.
My Blog: yes, I'm putting this on my list. Selfish, yes. However, my blog is a form of therapy for me. Without it, I probably would have gone insane. Its my virtual dumping ground. And the support and love I've received from you guys has been invaluable to me. Thank You!
My Job; OK, yes my job sucks some seriously dirty ass, but I'm grateful as hell to have one!

What I Want For Christmas

It's official, I feel like crap! I'm exhausted! Work has been hell and I keep praying I'll win the lottery or find some buried treasure. I would aggressively start searching for a new job, but I don't have the time or energy right now given all the stress and stuff I'm dealing with for mom. I submitted her medicaid application over two weeks ago and the state has yet to contact me with a case worker or any sort of confirmation. Without an assigned case worker, mom can't continue to stay in the rehab facility. Its gotten to the point where my dreams are about medicaid. I decided I would have to call the medicaid office on Monday and try to be persistent. Worst case scenario would be me driving to Trenton and busting down their doors. As if I have the time for that. They seriously don't want me walking in there, I'll go all Rambo ion their asses!

On the flip side, Cruella is doing much better. She's whipping around the halls with her walker like a pro, and her mental capacity seems improved. Though, she's still bitter and emotionally draining. She's like an emotional and energy draining succubus. Five minutes with her and you feel like you ran a marathon having not eaten for four days. Exhausting! She calls my cell about five to ten times a day. "If I don't tell you now, I won't remember it." Ummm, try writing it down! Calling me at 6:00am in the morning to bring her a pillow is not the kind of wake up call I want on a Saturday morning! I've managed to visit her just about every day, with the exception of three days, and I honestly need to wain her off of me. My sisters think I visit every day out of guilt. That's not the case. If you've dealt with a rehab/nursing facility, you have to maintain a family presence or the nurses don't give the patients the care they need. If they know family is going to be there, they are much more attentive.

As for my siblings, well let's just say, they've managed to keep their distance. Offering me the occasional phone call of support and the trivial, "if there's anything we can do to help..." Oh please! Talk about guilt. I can't necessarily blame them. My mother has managed to push everyone in her life as far away as possible, and she has never been a loving and caring mother. You know the story, you made your bed, now lie in it.

Time to Decorate For Christmas

The past few weeks have been more than entertaining, stressful and somewhat overwhelming giving the events that have occurred with Cruella and other various things transpiring in my life. As you are aware from my previous postings, Cruella has been ill and is in the hospital and now is in rehab. While all this was going on, we've been down to one car while we tried to get the brakes fixed on the Jeep. Juggling transportation, finances, Cruella responsibilities and still trying to work all at the same time has left me in a struggle for balance and sanity.

The weekend before Cruella became ill, we arranged to have the Jeep repaired by my Brother-n-law's brother, who used to be a mechanic for Chrysler. While driving the Jeep over to my sister's house, I'm following Rob down a heavily traveled section of interstate. There's a ton of traffic on this two lane road as well as stores and commercial properties. Suddenly, I see this black SUV flying out of a parking lot on the left straight into oncoming traffic. In slow motion the SUV t-boned a BMW, pushing the BMW directly into our lane bound for a head on collision with Rob's Jeep. Knowing his brakes were shot, my heart sank and I think I shit my pants a little. Somehow Rob managed to direct the Jeep off the road and stop! The BMW missed hitting him by less than 10 feet. I was a wreck! I pulled over, stopped, and immediately went to make sure everyone was alright. Everyone seemed OK. The police arrived and we moved our vehicles off the road, and I gave a statement. Even in the moment of hysteria, I had to keep wiping the drool from my mouth as I was giving officer handsome my information. Looking him up head to toe, and as the conversation moved to road safety I mentioned being a motorcycle rider, and he chimed in that he's ridden for over 8 years...boing! Seriously? Turns out one of the rotors and the brake pad was completely shot, and a bad caliper had been leaking out all the break fluid. The Hubster had no breaks!

Due to the Cruella drama, I turned the brake parts debacle over to my brother-n-law to handle. Again, 3 days later and they once again shipped us the wrong part. I don't understand why these things always happen to me! The delay in obtaining the parts left the Hubster and I in a transportation crisis. We both needed to have a car. My sister was nice enough to loan me her Minivan. Yes I've been driving a minivan and Rob has been driving my Ruffymobile! We finally got our money bake for the part, and ordered from a different company. The correct part arrived, and will be installed by Glenn this Saturday. Here's hoping all goes well!

Among all the Jeep drama, you know Cruella has been ill and consuming copious amounts of my time, energy, and emotions. Rather than bore you with specific actions and details, I will once again provide you with some of her classic one liners from the past few days!

Creulla in the ER:

"They fucking kill people in here!" (As she's trying to pull the IV out of her arm)

"The nurses are stealing my drugs."

"some of the patients here are old and sick, I don't know why I'm here?"

"I don't want to take my lasix, it makes me pee too much."

"I just wash with baby wipes, I don't want to smell like these old people."

On the way to my dropping her off at my brother's for Thanksgiving. yes, she was able to get out for a day.

Cruella: "You should turn around and take me back."

Me: "Why, it will be good for you to get out."

Cruella: " you know Meg (my brother's wife) can't cook, and I have a special diet, I won't be able to eat anything."

Me: "I've already gone over the menu with them.. They know what you can and can't eat."

Creulla: "Today was hamburger day at the home, I love hamburgers!"

Me: "Is that why you don't want to go?"

Creulle: "Well, I haven't had a hamburger in weeks. I love hamburgers!"

Me: No comment....

For the record, she made sure she was back in rehab in time for dinner and her hamburger!

A Day To Give Thanks

Well despite everything I have on my plate, and I'm not talking turkey here boys, I am very grateful for all that I have. Even more importantly, for all that I love and for those who love me; my friends, my family, you guys, and most importantly my Hubster, Rob! For all that we've been through and continue to struggle with, he never stops telling me how much he loves me, and is so thankful to have me in his life. How did I ever found such a man is beyond me, but I have to say the feelings are quite mutual. I actually started my college career trying to obtain a degree in Fine Arts, and I did wind up working in the graphics industry for about ten years. I made a career change when I turned 30 because I just wasn't making any substantial money. I still love to draw, and life drawing was actually one of my favorite things. Unfortunately, the models the college would hire were just so unappealing and we're mostly women. Sorry I have been unable to cruise the web and read my fellow Bloggers postings this past week. As you know I've had limited PC time due to all the Cruella drama. Being in rehab only one day, and my crazy mother has already been causing trouble in the rehab facility, they've decided she can no longer get out of bed without assistance or just roam around by herself. Personally I think they should just restrain her and lock her to her bed! We are moving Cruella to a rehab facility today. She's doing much better and we actually had to fight and plead with the social workers and physical therapy department to not send her back home. On a normal day, Cruella can barely make it from the house to the car without some form of assistance, cane, walker or one of us holding onto her and guiding her. Yesterday, the therapist got her out of bed gave her a walker, and said let's do a lap around the floor. Cruella bolted as if there was a free buffet at the end of the hall. I haven't seen her move that fast in years. She flew around the floor, laughing and having a grand 'ol time. My sister and looked at her in complete disbelief. The physical therapist approached us and said, "She's really doing well, and is too high functioning for rehab!" My sister and I had a look of horror on our faces. I pulled the therapist aside and informed him that he just witnessed one of Cruella's best performances, and in 15 minutes she'll be passed out in her bed. Sure enough, she was already asleep when I walked back into the room. We explained to the therapist, that her geriatric doctor wants her to go to rehab facility where we can then transition her to an assisted living facility. If you send her home, you will only be making that process much more difficult. Well my prayers were answered! They got her into a rehab with assisted living capabilities.

Yes, Cruella will not be coming back home to live with the Hubster and I. We've paid our dues and have done all we can for her. She can't be left alone anymore, never wants to shower, and is now on a highly restricted diet. Now before you think we've planned this stealth operation to get her into a home, Cruella actually asked to be put in a home. She expressed her concerns to her doctor that she's very lonely and depressed. This will be a win-win situation for all of us. So wish me luck today as I whisk her off to rehab, and pray that we can work out all the details in transitioning her into a new home. For the record, I'm emotionally and physically drained!!! Not sure how much more I can take, but I'm hanging in there!

Well Tuesday turned out to be an interesting day. Spent the entire day at the hospital with Cruella. She was not feeling well and was very incoherent yesterday morning. Rather than let things slide, as business as usual, I decided I should take her to the Emergency Room. Sure enough after hours of waiting and various tests, she has diverticulitis and may have had a mini stroke or TIA. She's undergoing some additional tests today for the TIA issue, but they have her on antibiotics for the diverticulitis. I'll let you guys know how things progress, but for now, she's still being Cruella through and through. I do have to say, all the waiting around did allow me to catch some tasty doctor eye candy. Something about a man in a lab coat, hmmmm, and those scrubs....Grrrrrrrr What can I say, even in troubled time my cock has a mind of its own.
